Researchers look for answers on God

British boffins are spending 1.9 million pounds ($A4 million) investigating why people believe in God. While the Oxford University investigation will not delve into whether God exists, it will examine whether believing in a higher being is a result of nature or nurture.
"We are interested in exploring exactly in what sense belief in God is natural," one of the researchers, Justin Barrett, told The Times.
"We think there is more on the nature side than a lot of people suppose."
Researchers will also examine whether conflicts linked to religions are a product of human nature and whether a belief in an afterlife is based on teachings.
